FARMINGTON — The Russellville Cyclones almost met the Farmington Cardinals blow for blow but lost 6-5 on Friday.
Russellville trailed 3-2 after the first inning. The Cyclones went up 5-3 in the top of the sixth, but the Cardinals answered with three runs to take the lead.
In the first inning, Craig DeFrancisco and Jack Snider each scored on the same error to put Russellville up 2-0.
Farmington responded with a grounder by Eric Hill to score Drew Sturgeon. Evan Shoffit scored on an error at right field.
The Cardinals went up 3-2 when Colton Kilgore’s groundout.
In the sixth inning, Ryan Talley scored on a series of errors to tie the score.
The Cyclones went up 5-3 when Elli Thomas’ two-RBI single scored Kade Shaeffer and Cole Hathcote.
Eli Thomas was the losing pitcher. He gave up one unearned run and one hit in one inning. He struck out three and walked two. Jack Snider was the starting pitcher. He lasted five innings, gave up nine hits, five runs (four earned) and struck out five.
Russellville travels to Siloam Springs on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
